Well, I wanted to post on the 28th since it was the 7 month mark, but life has been kind of average lately. Still haven't bought a car but have had intentions to the past 2 weeks. It's hard to get motivated to make a decision you don't want to make that is going to cost thousands of dollars. I'm sure I'll get excited once the whole thing is over, but until then, it's just a pain.
It is officially WEEK 1 of my 30 week training program! Thanks to JD, I found a Hal Higdon schedule online. The first 12 weeks should be pretty easy, but it'll get me into the routine of running Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with a longer run on Saturdays. When I was putting the miles on my calendar, I realized home much running is going to get in the way of upcoming events, like weddings and float trips, but I'm determined to make it happen. I can run a 3 mile with no problem, and found an app that will track my time, distance, and pace. I'm still around a 10 minute mile, which I'm happy with. I'm going to need to find new paths around Columbia for once my runs get longer. When I run on sidewalks, I have a pretty good idea of how far I've gone, but I really want to start running the trails. Supposedly, they are better on your joints. Plus, Columbia has several of them and they will be shady once it gets hot.
I've also started some P90X videos (Thanks Marc, for downloading them for me!) I've only done the abs one all the way through because it's only 15 minutes. The others are an hour and pretty intense so I haven't worked up to that yet. I got through about 30 minutes of the yoga video and even that was hard. Hmm... All in time :)
Oh, and did I mention I'm going to Washington DC on Thursday?! That means LOTS of pictures next time. I'm REALLY excited since I've never been. I even get to see the Oval Office because my cousin works in the White House so we get a special tour! Plus, we get to walk a ton, and I'm even going to run an unofficial 5K while I'm there.
